The aim of the Service is to help students with special educational needs, so a significant part of our work is related to education and training. Our aim is also to enable students with disabilities to participate in an integrated and personal way in lectures, seminars and conferences at the University, thus giving students who have previously only studied at home the opportunity to build social contacts. By being able to attend classes every day, healthy students can be exposed to the problems of their disabled peers and prejudice is reduced. Our services are also free of charge for students and teachers with disabilities.

National Meeting of University Students with Disabilities (2002) At the first National Meeting, a ministerial decree on the situation of disabled students was presented, the aim of which was to include disabled students in university life, to prevent them from dropping out and to ensure equal opportunities. The Conference was an opportunity for students with disabilities to get to know each other and to make contacts.

KOFOH

Concert for Disabled Students "KOFOH" In 2000, the Pécs Symphony Orchestra gave a charity concert in the Auditorium of the Pécs University on the Szigeti Road. The proceeds of the Concert were intended for the education of the disabled and the aim was to promote the future Foundation.

On the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the founding of PTE, Univ Tv Pécs interviewed Zsuzsa Hágen and Csaba Magdali, the head of the Service, about the anniversary programme. The participants said that it has become a tradition at the University to organise integrated programmes and that they are preparing for the anniversary with an integrated dance. The idea is to bring together able-bodied and disabled students to present their dance work, which this year is linked to the 650th anniversary.

In 2016, the Faculty of Health Sciences hosted an awareness day for Support Services staff, students with disabilities and their volunteers. The aim was to raise awareness among university students.

Frigadella

In 2014, we welcomed a new volunteer, Malina Bak Jensen from Denmark. During a baking session with the disabled students, she presented one of her country's traditional dishes, Frigadella. It is a not too spicy meatball with onions, served with potato salad as a side dish. Cooking together is an intercultural activity that brings students, volunteers and the Service staff closer together.

Iroda

The Support Service, which has been operating since 2005, moved into a new part of the University building in 2009, where it has since opened its office. For the first time in the country, the Support Service has been able to add a rest and rehabilitation section to facilitate the daily lives of the disabled.

Mikróbusz

In 2014, the Service had the opportunity to purchase another van. Sándor Szép, Head of the Service, said that the bus was purchased with the help of the increased grant for registered students.

In this video series, we present students with disabilities graduating from PTE. The videos follow the same theme. During the interview, our students introduce themselves, talk about their university years, and then present their chosen thesis topic as an important milestone on their path to becoming a professional. As an interviewer, the Support Service staff is joined by a fellow student who is in some way related to the thesis topic or to the thesis student himself.
